Bad Quality Food Complaints: You must have often heard that the food from outside is not good. Often the quality is compromised. But if you want to eat ice cream, then making it at home is a very difficult task. That is why people order ice cream from outside and these days it is extremely hot.

In such a situation, ice cream also provides relief from heat. People order a lot of ice cream while sitting at home in summer. But after knowing the news from Mumbai, you will delete all the online food delivery apps from your phone. Actually, a person in Mumbai ordered ice cream online and got a cut finger in it. Know where a complaint can be made in such a case and what can be the punishment. 

You can register a complaint in FSSAI

Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, a complaint can be lodged regarding poor quality of food. In such cases, you can register your complaint online or by calling on toll free number. For this, first of all you have to go to the official website of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India i.e. FSSAI, fssai.gov.in. After this you have to click on Share Your Concern. After this you have to register yourself. After registration, you have to login.

After login, you will have to select the relevant category i.e. what kind of food was there, food catering premises etc. After selecting the category, a descriptive form will appear in front of you. In which you will have to submit the photo of the food and complete details along with it. After successfully submitting the form, you will get a reference number using which you can check the status of your complaint anytime. Along with this, you can also register a complaint by calling on this number 1800112100. 

There may be a fine along with imprisonment

Under section 54 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, if the food is found to be of poor quality or if some substance is found to be present which is not correct, then on such occasions, the manufacturing company can be fined up to 1 lakh. Along with this, there can also be a jail term of 6 months.

Along with this, under section 59 of the Act, if the material added to the food is not harmful to health, then the fine can be up to 2 lakhs and if that material is harmful to health, then the amount of fine can be up to 10 lakhs.
